Derailing

Sometimes, many times, my brain feels like the fastest ride. And it’s fun. So fun. Until it’s not fun at all. But man, it’s hard to stop when you’re derailing. And some days I try. I try to hold on to any- thing , To any- one that may appear. Some other days, I am not able. Some other days, I’m only able to cover my eyes and wait. Wait for the ride to crash. Hoping to survive. Knowing that if I don’t, Well… I tried. Art by my daughter.

I’m not little like you. I’ve already been little, and you’re only little once. You’re little now. but you will grow. And then one day, you won’t be little again. Art by my daughter.

A Mother Today

Four decades ago a baby’s surrounded by love. A baby surrounded by not just one mother but many all filling the cup. Four decades ahead a baby’s surrounded by love. A baby surrounded by only one mother, who’s failing, struggling, alone. Art by my son.

Through these scattered - sometimes more structured - but always truthful words, I hope to inspire and connect with you, all while exploring the magic inherent in the world around us.

Whether it's a simple reflection on a life experience or a more introspective exploration of nature, each poem - immediate, raw, honest and imperfect - is a glimpse into my heart and soul, and hopefully, a chance for us to share in the odd, painful, and wonderful complexities of life and our humanity.
